...a message from Sandee Umbach, founder

“All Children Should Have the Opportunity to Explore the Arts and to Grow in Ways that Might Never Have Been Imagined….”

Art, music, theater, and literature all enhance our quality of life in a profound way. However, many children are not able to explore the fine arts - most often due to cost. And with local schools facing more cuts in arts programming, it's not hard to imagine how the world might miss out on a great painter, vocalist, or writer

The Washington Community Arts and Cultural Center is changing all this by providing the highest quality fine art instruction.

But there is more to Wash Arts than our core mission of serving children through free instruction in the arts. We realize that the arts are a vital source of creativity and growth for people of all ages and walks of life. Our adult courses available are taught by some of the finest artists in the region. And our Art Outreach in the community is unprecedented.

Wash Arts is also proud to be a part of the urban revitalization of historic downtown Washington and contributes to the vitality of our city by providing innovative cultural events on a regular basis. From our Musical Luncheon Series, and Art Exhibits in our center’s Main Hall, to hip coffeehouse entertainment at “The Inspiration Café”; our art/café outlet, Wash Arts’ offerings are always unique, innovative, and engaging.
